Origin Ffoto Fundraising Photo Shoots- Just £30!

In May 2011 my work will be featuring in an exhibition in London as part of Origin Ffoto (very exciting!) This years exhibition is set to be extremely interesting, featuring a diverse range of photographic styles and a high level of creativity. Last years exhibition in TactileBOSCH, Cardiff proved to be a huge success and we are hoping to put on an even better show this year!

Book: InkSkin

I am currently putting together a book of my latest series of work, some of which will feature in the Origin Ffoto Identity exhibition, as well as the extended series. Although my work is based around hand written typography I have recently been experimenting using stamps to print text onto my subjects and I am thinking of including these in my book. At the moment I am not sure if I find these as affective as the handwritten work as it takes away the personal element, however I do like how bold the text looks and it adds a bit of verity to my work. I'm thinking of experimenting with different fonts and coloured ink etc which will be fun!

I bought a giant pot of ink recently so some lucky person will be getting that poured all over them very soon hopefully. I also bought some Letraset so will be doing some experimenting with getting that to transfer onto skin, should be interesting if I can get it to work.

My book will be available as a limited edition in about a months time.

Identity Project

My work for the Identity exhibition I am working on as part of Origin Ffoto is based on the idea of lost identity. I feel that large part of our identities are hidden in subliminal thoughts and secret feelings, this makes me question, would it be better if we, as people were easier to read? I intend to explore the idea of the subliminal becoming explicit and the secretive becoming public, through my photographic works. These are a few examples of my work which may feature in the Origin Ffoto exhibition in June 2010.

Origin Ffoto exhibition

I have been working with a small group of other photographers and photographic artist on a group exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is identity and we have all been producing some very interesting and individual work relating to the theme. Very exciting!

We have now decided on a venue- tactileBOSCH in Cardiff 'ave a look at it- www.tactilebosch.org We also have a date for the opening which will be Saturday the 5th of June 2010 and it will be closing on the 19th of June. Collaboration with Beth Scaplehorn

I have been working with artist Beth Scaplehorn on a collaborative project called Inside/Outside for which she has been producing a series of drawings based on the human anatomy. She asked to work with me to produce some photographic works to further her project. The images are double exposures of a lambs heart and portraits of Beth on 35mm film.

We were both very happy with the outcome to this project and I hope to work with her again in the future. It was also lots of fun scaring the poor man who made some prints for these for us!
